I think this is the least interested in Christmas I’ve ever been in my whole life, although it’s not near a Grinch sort of level. BUT! My parents gave me flannel pajamas with polar bears on them! And some fancy notecards with birds on them! Also I’m up like $400 from extended family’s presents, which means I can a) splurge a bit on books (I’ve bought four already) and...

How awesome is this?
sadirishluck: A friend’s mom was at the store checking out. She was digging for the money to pay for the $300+ load of groceries and some guy jumped in front of her and swiped his credit card in the machine. He turned to say “Merry Christmas” and walked out. When I have a job and a steady income, I really want to do that kind of random act of kindness.

I AM TYPING THIS FROM UBUNTU NOW omg
Successful installation! Successful everything! Well, no— tiny problem with moving my files from my Mac to my desktop, but I think I’ve worked out a way to fix it. PLUS, bonus: I don’t have to reformat my external harddrives! Linux can access any format. Huzzah! Some thoughts after using Ubuntu for about 4 hours now: 1. Wow, this isn’t scary at all! And it looks kind of...

yay the desktop I built still works!
Well, it turns on. I’m just assuming everything is still okay. :D Have cleaned the bit of my room that it’s going to live at, have moved the tower and humongoid monitor to the desk and am now downloading Ubuntu! Then I’ll try installing it. I hope it goes well! I have to figure out what to do with my external harddrives, though. They’re formatted for Mac OS X, and...

Something weird’s going on with my Macbook again; it keeps overheating (i.e. getting so hot it shuts off) and blowing all the dust out of it isn’t working. I’m worried it’s something with the motherboard? Which I can’t fix. If it’s the fan I could replace it, but I’m getting tired of mothering this thing. I’ve already replaced the harddrive and the...
